Abstract

Small-sized sand-flies about 3 mm in length are typical for many species, which helps them in
the escaping notice. Females suck blood from various mammals including man, reptiles and
birds, which bite is not always felt, but leaves a small round, reddish bump that starts itching
hours or days later. They transmit bacterial parasitic and viral infectious diseases.
